2) Kaas Lake
Kaas Lake, located just a few minutes away from the famous Kaas Plateau, is a serene freshwater lake surrounded by rolling green hills. Built in the 19th century as a water reservoir for Satara city, the lake today is also a popular stop for travelers visiting the plateau. Unlike the colorful and busy Kaas Pathar, the lake offers a sense of calm and solitude — perfect for a relaxing break.
3) Sajjangad
Sajjangarh Fort was earlier known as Aashwalayangad and was built by the Bahamani Emperors in between 1347-1527 AD. It was later conquered by Adil Sha in 16th century AD. In the same year the Mughals attacked the Sha rulers and brought this fort under their control. The fort then came under the rule of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Previously known as Parali Fort, it was renamed to Sajjangad after Shivaji Maharaj requested Sri Ramdas to set up his permanent abode here.
4) Vajrai Waterfalls
Vajrai Waterfall, near Satara and close to Kaas Plateau, is one of the tallest waterfalls in India, cascading from a height of about 853 feet (260 meters) in three grand tiers. Fed by the Urmodi River, the waterfall is especially spectacular during the monsoon and post-monsoon months, when the roaring water creates misty clouds and a magical atmosphere.
The area around Vajrai is surrounded by lush greenery and hills, making it a perfect spot for nature lovers and photographers. It is also considered a place of spiritual importance, with local legends connected to Sant Ramdas Swami. Though the views are breathtaking, visitors are advised to enjoy the waterfall from designated safe points, as the terrain can be slippery.
